Yasher Koach Sam!
I am not entirely certain about the proper etiquette pertaining to blogs, but I would like to dedicate this blog entry in honor of Sam Zuckerman from Orange County, California. Sam called me this past Friday to inform me that this past Shabbat marked his two year anniversary of observing Shabbat. He particularly remembered this anniversary because he had just come back from the annual NCSY West Coast New York trip as an NCSY advisor. Sam remembered attending the same trip two years ago as a senior in high school and the experience inspired him to make the momentous commitment to keep Shabbat two weeks after the trip.
Today, Sam is a student at Brown University. It is certainly not easy being Shomer Shabbat at Brown. I wish I could accurately convey the inexpressible joy in Sam’s voice at having completed two years as a fully Shomer Shabbat Jew. It seemed as though he had won the marathon, Yasher Koach Sam!
This is my first entry in any blog ever. Reading about Sam I feel a need to express my admiration for him. As a person involved in NCSY for many years, Sam’s story makes every second I have volunteered on behalf of NCSY worth it.
Thank you Sam!!!!!!!!
