The Reason
This morning started out like any other, yet little did I know that G-d had decided to change my regular morning routine. I got up at 5am as usual and was pulling out of my driveway at 5:40am to make the 5:45am Beth Aaron Minyan. Suddenly, my car got caught in the snow and no matter what I did I couldn’t get it out for 20 minutes. Finally, at 6am I was able to pull out. Already late for my Minyan, I decided to go straight to Manhattan and daven there.
As I rounded the corner I saw a man with a beard and a coat walking along the road. I rolled down my window and offered him a ride to the bus stop. He hopped into my car, eager to get out of the cold. It turned out that he was also heading to Manhattan and I could drop him off fairly close to where he was going. As we talked he told me that every day he gets a ride at 5:15am and attends a shiur from 5:45am until Shachrit at 7:30am. The person that usually gives him a ride didn’t want to drive in the snow so he was taking the bus.
All of the sudden everything became clear; Hashem didn’t want this tzadik that traveled at the crack of dawn to be cold and schlep on his way to learn Torah. That is why I was delayed in the snow. Instead of being frustrated when things don’t always go our way we should watch out for the wonderful opportunities that present themselves as a result of these changes and frustrations.
