Make Your Voices Heard
I spent the past week at the OU Convention in Israel. This convention was a memorable experience for many reasons and one comment made by Rabbi Emanuel Feldman particularly resonated. Many times we go to rallies or write letters even though we are sure that they fall on deaf ears. The Ribbono Shel Olam does not need to hear us at rallies or read our petitions, so why do we bother? Rabbi Feldman said “that some issues are so morally compelling they demand a public response even when the practical effects are nil, or even negative.” (This direct quote was taken from a JTA article written by Ben Harris) As a moral and thinking person we must never be silent when we think there is injustice in the world and we must strive to make our voices heard no matter who is listening.
