Glorious Paris

Well, here I am in glorious Paris writing my blog. I wanted the first line to sound chipper because I am not too sure the rest will be.

The other day I was riding up the elevator to my office t when someone asked me where I was heading off to this week. I do not believe I mentioned this in my other entries, but my position requires me to travel on a pretty constant basis. I replied that I was leaving to Israel and Poland for two and a half weeks. Another person in the back of the elevator quipped, “tough life”. I smiled and pretended to laugh at the sarcastic joke but in truth it stung me to the core.
The insinuation was that I get to globe trot all around, taking in all of the sites. If only they knew how hard it is to leave my wife and kids for these trips. Being away from my family for a day is torture. Two and a half weeks…

Yet, my aishes chayil and my four little tzadikim tolerate my trips because they believe in Klal Yisroel. Although they probably cannot articulate just what I do they know that “daddy is teaching the children of Klal Yisroel”. I envy their chalek in heaven.

Anyway, I thought I would share bits and pieces of my glorious globe trotting journey with all you folks in cyber space. Right now I am sitting in the Charles de Gaul airport without any air conditioning. I am here for a six hour layover before continuing on to Israel. This was the cheapest Orbitz way for me to take my trip.

Presently, I am faced with a major dilemma- do I sit on the duty free level and suffocate from perfume or do I sit on the upper level where everyone is smoking? I choose the duty free level. So, here I am sitting eating a twelve hour old tuna sandwich drinking a diet Sierra Mist in beautiful Paris. That’s all for now since I am writing on my Blackberry and my thumbs are starting to cramp.

Au revoir!

  1. Ahhh Steve. Reminds me of the good old days smile Keep on trotting and making a difference for klal yisroel!

  2. Paris!! How I loong to be there… Rabbi Burg, I lived in Paris for 7 months, and even went to yeshiva there for 2 months.  Had I known you were stopping over for a few hours, I would’ve loved to tell you how to see all of Paris in 6 hours!
