Chanukah at the White House
I hope all of you had a festive Chanukah. Among the various parties I attended, by far the most auspicious and surreal was the White House Chanukah Party which I had the privilege to attend. Aside from the immense honor of meeting President and First Lady Bush, it was an incredible sight to see so many prominent and influential Jewish leaders from all walks of life convened together. While it often difficult to reach a consensus among a group of Jews, it was heartily agreed upon by everyone in attendance at that the lamb chops served that evening were heavenly.
During the course of the evening I was afforded the opportunity to speak to the First Lady, who I informed about NCSY’s mission to connect, inspire and empower teens and that each year we reach over 30,000 Jewish teens. Mrs. Bush who is a longtime advocate for teen causes, sincerely thanked me for all of my hard work. However, her thanks and appreciation truly belong to each and every NCSY staff member, volunteer, and supporter who help make NCSY most successful teen kiruv operation worldwide.
