One Step At A Time

Once at a Shabbaton in Columbus Ohio I heard an NCSY’er ask Rabbi Efraim Buchwald, “Who is greater someone who has been religious all their life or someone who is relatively new to Jewish involvement in their life?” He answered “It is not on what rung of the ladder you stand but whether you are climbing up or down!” The real question was - How can I ever catch up to where I want to be?  The real answer was one step at a time in the right direction!

Well, NCSY Alumni has taken another couple steps in the right direction!  After 13 years of bugging for alumni follow-up, the OU hired me to start gathering alumni info, build a web presence, run a few reunions and help in development for NCSY.  As of last week there has been a new direction.  I am starting a new department in the OU called Alumni Services And Programs (A.S.A.P.) to create follow-up programming for NCSY, JSU, IPA and JLIC alumni!

My first step will be to roll out a free membership for college age alumni so we can provide programs and services as they graduate and head to University campuses.  The reason for this first focus is to plug the holes in the ship before we invite more of the 250,000 alumni in!  I have many ideas for programs and services for our recent alumni which I will share in the days to come.  Please send in your suggestions and pass the below link to any college age alumni you know to check out the benefits of becoming a free collegiate member of ASAP.  Free Alumni Membership For Those Entering Or In College
